First: Why “Hey Jhonny”?
Hey Jhonny is a salutation and greeting dedicated to Tom’s father,
a man bigger who was bigger than life.
Throughout his life as a New York policeman, fireman and truck driver,
“Hey Jhonny” was his greeting to family members, friends and strangers, who didn’t remain strangers for long.
He was an incredible man, who remains in our heart daily.
Hey Jhonny’s retail store opened in Albuquerque, New Mexico, thirteen years ago in the city’s Nob Hill District. Its owners, Carl Latino and Tom Ford, started their company 20 years ago as a wholesale company, under the name of Latino, Inc., designing innovative products for the home and gift industry. Wholesale clients who appreciated their quality and design included, to name a few- The Gardner, Giorgio Armani, Bloomingdales, Berdorf Goodman, Sak’s Fifth Ave. and Nordstroms. Catalogs who previewed this work included, Horchow, Gump’s, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Nature Company, Smith & Hawken and one of their proudest, “Sanctuary” by Cher.
Hey Jhonny has been written up in the New York Times, Travel & Leisure and many other publications. Architectural Digest labeled them as “an oasis in the desert”.
The store with its eclectic mix of merchandise has been described as “an awakening of the senses” and providing “affordable art to the masses”.
The collection is always changing due to the selective buying eyes of the owners, who travel the world to bring a unique and one-of-a-kind shopping experience to their city of Albuquerque.
